João Miguel Couto Duarte. Degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Lisbon (1990); an MSc in Art Theories from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (2005) and a PhD in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon (2016).
João is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Arts, Lusíada University [FAA/ULL], in Lisbon, in the fields of design studio and History and Theory of architecture for the Integrated Master's degree course. He is also responsible for the seminar 'Epistemology of Architecture' of the ULL Doctoral Programme. Research Associate at the Research Center Arnaldo Araújo (CEAA) and a Research Collaborator at the Research Center for Design, Architecture and Territory (CITAD). He is an academic member of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) and serves on the editorial board of the Athens Journal of Architecture (AJA).
He conducts research in the field of architectural theory and history, with a focus on the interrelationships between Portugal and Japan in the field of architecture. He has published numerous articles and book chapters. He has published numerous articles and book chapters. Producer of the films Aires Mateus: matter in reverse (2017) and Body-Buildings (2021), directed by Henrique Pina.
